Bicep workouts aren’t difficult to start but there is some information you should keep in mind when starting a new bicep workout. Adopting a push-pull routine first will warm up muscles and include your upper back in your workouts This will also save you some time when working out. Work in barbell curls first. Choosing Your Bicep Workouts
Knowing your ultimate goal will help you choose the best bicep workouts for your body. Â Goals can be anything from increasing strength, increasing bicep size, or just toning your muscles. Â Remember that the exercises you choose will be different depending on the goals you have.
Strength building exercises focus on heavy weights and usually include explosive movements. Â To help build your bicep size you should use relatively heavier weights and have lower repetitions. Â If you are going to spend a short amount of time at the gym you may need to choose exercises that give your workouts the maximum workout in a short amount of time. Â If you are going to be spending some more time at the gym you can choose from a wider variety of bicep exercises. Make sure to not overestimate your fitness level when you start, no matter what your workout goal is to make sure you prevent injury.
Workout preferences will play a role in how you structure your workout as well. You may choose different exercises if you prefer dumbbells over barbells or if you prefer isolated exercises over compound ones.

Bicep Workouts Without Weights
While the best bicep exercises work with weights, you can do some bicep workouts without weights. Pushups can be effective as long as you do them right. If you keep your elbows close to your body then your biceps and triceps will benefit. Many people think that pull ups work the back more than anything but the biceps are getting a great workout when you do pull ups as well. Bicep curls are typically done with weights but you don’t need to have an actual weight to do them. You can use a bucket of water or a heavy bag of books for this exercise. Inverted rows can also be done. Make sure you have something strong to hold on to such as a coffee table or a strong bar on two chairs. Lie flat on your back and pull yourself up towards the bar and hold yourself there for a few seconds. Instructional Fitness has workout videos to make sure you are doing bicep workouts correctly to prevent injury.
